Midlaw firms are just 50-500 person collections of shitlawyers

midlaw firms, which deal heavily in insurance, aren't one step above shitlaw, and definitely aren't one step below biglaw. they are just massive firms of shitlawyers doing slightly different stuff than true shitlaw.

i worked at a midlaw firm (about 175 attorneys). they did very little insurance work. if you looked at their "about us" page, it would look just like skadden's: M&A, IP, general corporate shit, L&E, etc. but the difference really is in the sophistication of work and size of clients.
what you are describing is a place like WEMED, which is just BIGSHITLAW. it's misleading for anyone to call firms like that midlaw. |

morgan and morgan shitlaw factories are not "midlaw."
also, anyone that has actually worked biglaw has worked with midlaw lawyers. i don't see anyone that knows anything about corporate law could not know this.

yeah i worked in midlaw, and i worked in biglaw. they are basically the same, but the quality of work/clients varies. that really is all. there are no actual midlaw firms that are 80% insurance defense or whatever.
lewis brisbois is probably the closest thing, as they seem to have some legit practices, but it is mostly insurance garbage. i think there is at least a debate to have over whether you can call that firm midlaw. i say no. this firm is the exception that proves the rule, though. |
