Takes the song and supercharges it, unleashing the proto-metal riff and the snare. Embosses it slickly and simply by virtue of the girl-band, makes it sexy as well as maudlin.
It also captured the 80s / Brat Pack juggernaut in a way the original never captured anything.
If the criteria are taking a good, well-known song, and re-inventing it to make it BIGGER and BETTER, this should be on the lists with "Hurt", "Watchtower", etc. |
