TT's thread really got me thinking. The Fed's Surveybof Consumer Finances is unreliable and shoots high, I don't trust those numbers.
So what are the real stats? How much does the typical American have in cash, savings, taxable brokerage account, whatever. Obviously excluding home equity, retirement accounts, or anything else not readily accessible.
I have a sneaking suspicion the numbers are mind bogglingly low.
