Two beggars are sitting on a sidewalk in Rome. One is holding a large crucifix, and the other is holding a Star of David.

As people walk by, they look at the two men, shake their heads, and drop crisp dollar bills and large coins into the bowl of the beggar with the crucifix. They completely ignore the beggar with the Star of David, sometimes even scowling at him.

After a few hours, a well-meaning local priest walks past. He stops, watches the crowd ignore the Star of David beggar, and feels a bit sorry for him. He leans down and whispers:

"My son, don't you realize what you're doing? This is a highly Catholic neighborhood. You’re sitting right in front of a church! You aren't going to get any donations here with that Star of David. If you want to make some money, you should take your sign and go around the corner to the synagogue."

The beggar with the Star of David listens quietly. Once the priest walks away, he turns to the beggar with the crucifix, nudges him, and says:

"Moishe, you believe this Goy telling us how to do business!"
