Woke NYC private school claimed complaints against revenge porn teacher were ‘racist’: suit

One of Brooklyn’s most elite private schools waved off whistleblower complaints about a sicko teacher’s predatory behavior as “racist,” according to a bombshell new lawsuit from two former student victims.
Victims of the since-convicted creep, former “Jeopardy!” champion Winston Nguyen, claim he used resources at the progressive Saint Ann’s School to obtain nude photographs of them and shared them in an act of “revenge porn.”
“Even when Nguyen released naked pictures of [the two victims] to the Saint Ann’s community, the School did nothing to help the children or to mitigate the harm,” says the suit, filed Thursday in Brooklyn federal court.

“To this day, it has never apologized.”
Leaders at the tony Brooklyn Heights school — where annual tuition costs $63,000 — allegedly failed to investigate Nguyen before his hiring, and retaliated against those who tried to sound the alarm.
“When parents, faculty, and students warned about Nguyen’s predatory behavior, Saint Ann’s retaliated against the whistleblowers, ostracizing them as ‘racist,’ ‘anti-progressive,’ and insufficiently committed to ‘restorative justice,’” the suit states.

Nguyen was eventually given the job of math teacher in 2020, despite previously serving time in prison for stealing $300,000 from a blind 96-year-old.
He was arrested in 2024, while still a teacher at Saint Ann’s, and sentenced to seven years in prison last March after admitting to a catfishing scheme in which he tricked students at the school and others into sending him child porn pictures and videos.
The two girls in the suit, filed by their parents against Nguyen, Saint Ann’s and its leaders, were 13-year-old students at another Brooklyn private school at the time, according to one of their attorneys.
“Saint Ann’s leaders used a caricature of social justice language to rationalize protecting an abuser — not the thirteen-year-olds who needed them most,” said the attorney, Joshua Perry, in a statement to The Post.

The suit describes how Nguyen allegedly used Saint Ann’s resources to target and manipulate the young victims, including access to a master key, being allowed to sleep on campus, using internal databases to send gifts to and visit the pupils’ homes, contacting them on social media — and using a private “hangout spot” where “favored students could skip class.”
But despite complaints about Nguyen’s behavior, the suit claims the school “retaliated against the whistleblowers,” labeling them as “racist” and not committed to “restorative justice.”
That “negligence,” the suit said, allowed him to eventually impersonate a teenage boy on Snapchat, duping the two teen girls into an online relationship.
Soon he shared how they “made him horny,” fantasized about how he would ask for oral sex, sent them nude images of himself masturbating — and demanded the girls send him their own nude photos and videos, the suit states.

When the girls finally blocked his account, he sent “a revenge porn blast with dozens of explicit pictures” to other students in the middle of the school day in early 2024, according to the filing.
The suit alleges Nguyen did the same thing to students at Saint Ann’s, too. When the school found out that February, officials met with the students, “but took no other steps to help,” and declined to report the incident to the police, the suit claims.
“After each round of dissemination, Saint Ann’s met with its own affected students but took no other steps to help,” the filing states.
“Saint Ann’s did not report the series of Snapchat-related revenge porn incidents to the police. It did not investigate to find the revenge porn’s disseminator. It did nothing to mitigate or prevent the ongoing dissemination of child pornography.”

It took another five months for Saint Ann’s to fire Nguyen, following his arrest on child porn charges in June 2024.
“Saint Ann’s and its leaders have not yet been held accountable,” the suit reads, “for recklessly hiring Nguyen; repeatedly empowering him; refusing to supervise him; actively abetting him; and entrusting him with the access and property that he used to perpetrate his crimes.”
Both victims described crying themselves to sleep every night in the lawsuit. One victim was admitted to the hospital last year following four sleepless nights — and the other teen’s father had to quit working to support her.
“[The victims] are terrified that the intimate images—which show their faces and identify them by name—will resurface and be used against them later in life,” the filing states.

While Saint Ann’s did not reply to a request for comment, Kenyatte Reid, the head of school since 2023, sent a letter Thursday to the school community, claiming the filing “does not contain new accusations or information.”
The internal letter, obtained by The Post, states that the suit “includes several misrepresentations of Saint Ann’s role,” but does not detail what in the complaint was deserving of that description.
“We want to be clear in expressing our concern for all victims impacted bt Ngyuen’s actions and our recognition of the seriousness of these events,” the letter reads.
This isn’t the first time Saint Ann’s has been accused of “enabling” inappropriate sexual conduct among its faculty, the suit claims, citing a 2019 investigation initiated by the school which found at least six former teachers engaged in “sexual misconduct,” including having sex with students.
Prior to his sex crimes conviction, Nguyen was a contestant on “Jeopardy!” twice in 2014, winning one episode of the iconic game show.
