It's been about 1.5 months. I've been meaning to make a more detailed thread about it. Instead of drafting a long tome on the experience, I elect, instead, to do a "taking Qs" thread and provide my breakdown piecemeal.

Shoot.

"how did u get rx"

First got one in UG from a super-shady doctor. After that it was always easy AF. Just find a random psych on insurance company's website, go in, say I used to take it but stopped, and get the script. Didn't start having prescriptions or taking it regularly until my 30s though. In hindsight, I largely "needed" it to make up for my multi-day hangovers that used to generally last through Wednesday back before I had kids and used to party.

"describe your apotheosis over the years, body high etc"

I only took 40mg of Vyvance (equivalent to ~15 mg of adderall) + occasional 5mg Adderall "booster." Never had a body high or anything. Never took more than that. Would either take weekends fully off, one day of the weekend off, or significantly lower dose on weekends. Never took full daily dose 7 days per week.

"does it actyually make u smarter"

No. It just makes boring shit exciting. I would sort of look into getting into work in the morning with a moderate addy high and getting shit done. Caused me to waste plenty of time -- eg. spend 2 hours on something I should have spend 30 minutes on. On balance, though, it did make me more productive.

Yeah. Is this not how everyone does it? Seems like the obvious way to me -- and I'm not even sure of any other way. Worked the total of maybe 4-5 times I did it between UG and when I got my latest doc a few years ago.

"why did you decide to stop?"

Mostly because it became extremely hard to get because of shortages. I got my last prescription in March or some shit and was never able to fill it. If I dedicated 5 hours a day to it and called the doc a hundred times to move the script between pharmacies, maybe I could have gotten it filled. I had stock built up, so I had enough for a while. I never ran out, but when I had a week long vacation at the start of July I stopped taking it. No significant withdrawls and when I started work back up a week later, I barely noticed a difference compared to when I was on it.

(I think this might be because, as a result of the Vyvanse shortage, the pills I had been taking were underpowered AF.)

"have you noticed permanent changes?"

No. I was fine the first week I was off, and going back to work ~10 days after stopping was totally fine. (Keep in mind, I was taking much less than a lot of other people who take it -- just the equivilant to 15mg of Adderal / day with 1-2 day breaks every week.

Is it harder to get things done without it? Do you feel smarter or dumber now?

I used to take it for school but stopped because the come downs made me extremely depressed.

Without it I'm aimless. With it I get stuck on unimportant tasks. Overall better without it.

"Is it harder to get things done without it?"

Yeah. Odly enough, the busier I am the less the meds mattered. When am really busy with urgent shit, I am going to get it done no matter what. The hard part is when there's nothing big/urgent on my plate -- but there are a million small things or small parts of long term projects to do. Now that I'm mature, I'm ontop of everything though.

"Do you feel smarter or dumber now?"

Same. Just less "in the zone" for lots of boring shit.

"Overall better without it."

Agreed. For me this is especially because I now have MUCH MUCH more energy in the evenings and on the weekends. On Amphetamines, I would be tired AS FUCk when I got off work. Now I have decent energy for a few hours afterwards.

Same for the weekends because I wouldnt take it (or would take much less). I basically spent the weekends the past 5 years being tired/lethargic as fuck, but just using willpower to power through.

But by maybe 2pm I was back to baseline, and by ~5pm I was significantly worse off as compared to not being on it at all.

Only Ritalin, recreationally. Ritalin is actually CR recreationally. The "high" is not great, but it's great as a relatively fast-acting stim. Something inbewteen cocaine and adderall in terms of half-life. Take it purely for a ~2 hour energy boost that wont fuck up your sleep too much.

Quick note on my seemingly nonexistant "withdraws" and easy transition off.

I take a SHIT LOAD of Nicotine, which I speculate helped.

I also upped my Caffiene intake bigly when I got off. Probably also helped a little.

I also always consistently excercise every day, eat healthy AF, sleep well, etc.

Nice. I would binge adderall hard as fuck during exams with modafinil caffeine, aspirin, dip, etc. to the point of complete delirium and cram a whole class into 24-48 hours. Probably unhealthy. Don’t take it at all now.

One weird thing I noticed when I stopped addy was that I didn’t crave dip at all anymore. Like I just stopped thinking about it at all. One day i just i realized I hadn’t put a dip in like a week.

What's your dose? I know certain doses are hard to get, but it's bizarre to me that a shortage is why you're quitting

40mg vyvanse.

I'm sure I could have put in effort having prescription change and talking to dr's offices and calling pharmacys and all that b*******. When I know I shouldn't be taking this time in the first place, for health reasons, better just to use it as an ex to stop

I quit too because I love drinking on stims but it was a bad combination for me that led to weight gain and probably wasn't good for the heart (I'd take a vyvanse in the morning and then IR addy at night). Thankfully only did it for a few months.

No one asked about weight gain.

Zero awaken so far.

Appetite hasn't really increased either.

That said, I expect yane 1:00 or 2 lb over the course of a year.

I have an extremely strict diet that I didn't change at all. The so anyway game would come from lower heart rate etc.

If I put on more than one or two lb of fat, I'll just add in a little more cardio and that will go away.

I've never had a problem staying very lean through pure willpower and not being weak lazy faggot.

I gained weight on stims. Also couldn't keep to my workout regiment on them. My heart rate would go kooky if I did cardio on vyvanse.

Had any withdrawals? I found it super easy to quit. Also was a long term user/abuser.

Thank you for your story. Without the side effects it would be a miracle drug and I still miss it from time to time. I started dealing with the after work fatigue by taking another which fucked my sleep for years and caused me to quit.

If I ever get back on it, I will likely replace my 5 mg Adderall booster with a Ritalin booster.

The hardest part about quitting for me was realizing I had basically been wasting a significant fraction of my life crashing. Nights weren't bad but most weekends off I was more or less a zombie for years on end.

Extremely tired, probably 50% of weekends ended up with a migraine. Although it's hard to say how much of that was adderall vs caffeine -- theres something about addy+caffeine that makes it basically irresistible to combine them. When I quit addy my craving for caffeine also dropped off a cliff although it took me months to really adjust to going cold turkey on both. It also got progressively quite a bit harder to sleep well over the years which certainly contributed

A few more misc. notes:

(1) Sex Drive: No noticeable change

(2) Erections: No noticeable change

(3) Autism: I was hoping getting off it would make me at least a little less autistic. Sadly, no change in autism. Still extremely autistic.

(4) Sleep (as measured by Aura ring): I sleep about 30-40 minutes more. I naturally wake up ~30 minutes later, fall asleep about 5 minutes faster, and gain another ~5 minutes in waking up less in the middle of the night.

(5) Sleep (subjective): Other than naturally waking up 30 minutes later, I would not have noticed anything in #4 if I didn't sleep track.

Interesting. I’ve had some very different responses on these.

1&2- adderall made me insanely horny but I’ve had at least 2 nights where i literally could not get an erection at all with very hot girls. One of these was the hottest girl i was absolutely head over heels for and could not make it work. Huge disappointment and never got that opportunity with her again

3 - personality was an absolute robot on addy. I’m still pretty autistic and can be shy in certain situations but way easier to socialize now. Part of this I think is I was immune to booze on addy

4&5 - probably pretty similar. Obviously you can stay up for days on end but when I crashed it felt like great sleep

The booze thing is what surprised me the most (not necessarily the biggest change, just the most unexpected one). I almost never drank for 10 straight years except the odd wedding and after half a year off adderall it was suddenly fun again.

Does anyone else microdose? I take 2.5 mg ir 3x/week. Even that small amount at 8am will affect my sleep so I don't like to take it 2 days in a row.

I spoke too soon in this thread.

The past week or so, I've found it VERY difficult to get anything done at work.

Energy levels are fine, but every small task takes a mountain of willpower. This wasnt the case when I was only a 10 days off. I think the Adderall did some longer-term rewiring of my brain that is only now wearing off.

Good news.

Turns out I was just a little bit sick, which was draining my energy / willpower.

Back in good shape being productive without amphetamines.

Thinking about getting a script but a little concerned about the side effects (heart issues). Have you had any of those? 39 and having issues handling small tasks at work. Everything just takes a ton of will power.

Did you have any sleep issues before? Or sensitivity to stimulants like caffeine
