redditors say this constantly. they love to do "research" by googling stuff.
*posts about making 65k*
Response:
"From a quick Google search, your 65k income puts you in the 55th percentile, or the 68th percentile for your age, which is well above the median in either case so you are comfortably middle class if not upper middle class. First of all, be proud of your degree and what you have accomplished: you are beating out over half the country!" <goes on and on from here>

Didn’t I say this like earlier this week? You Stole this thread from me, champ
I mean it’s just implied by having a shrinking middle class that middle class is higher than median income. But there will always be someone trying to feel less ignominious. And there will always be someone who’s all like “but my COL”

the poverty rate was 25% in the 50s. At the peak of unions, 1/3rd of workers were unionized. It wasn’t that fucking good. It wes just less retarded than today.
People’s expectations keep going up for No Reason. Real incomes have stagnated since the 70s. They’ve stagnated, not dropped ffs.
The requirements people list for middle class are absurd — ironclad job security, college savings, $10,000k family vacations, retiring at 65 like it’s nbd, owning a non shitty house — it’s all BS based on something they saw on tv. Life in America is Scummy, nasty, brutish, and Short for the majority imo
