what are the closest hotels?
The hotel closest to the law school is a Sheraton. It's right across the street. There's also the Inn at Penn, which I believe is operated by Hilton. That's farther to the west and fronts on Walnut. Still within easy walking distance of the law school. If neither of those appeals to you, you'll probably want to look in Center City. In case you're unfamiliar with Philadelphia: Center City means anything east of the Schuylkill River. This includes all streets numbered below 30.
which parts of campus are safest or least safe?
The law school fronts on 34th St. between Walnut and Chestnut. This is the eastern edge of Penn's campus and in my experience it is a relatively safe area. Generally, the farther west one goes (i.e. the higher-numbered the streets) the more dangerous the neighborhood gets.
what are the best stores to buy penn stuff?
Best place is the Penn Bookstore. It's on Walnut St. around 36th. You can't miss it.
what are the best restaurants by campus?
My favorite place near the law school is the White Dog Cafe. It's on Sansom street (a "half street" between Walnut and Chestnut) between 34th and 35th. There's also the New Deck Tavern a couple of doors down. On the fancy side, there's Pod, a trendy place connected to the Inn at Penn. Farther west, probably around 38th or 40th St. on Walnut, there are other places, but I'm not often that far out, so I can't say exactly what these are.
also, where are the best places to park nearby?
There are a couple of lots right around the law school. I'm not sure whether these are public lots. There's probably parking at the Sheraton I mentioned above. Also, you'll find a large amount of metered parking along the street.
HTH. Any other questions, let me know.
