i actually realized today that romans dont exist among the gene pool because when the germanic tribes sacked rome, they probably massacared every last roman, including women and children. and they probably did the same with the greeks who lived under roman rule. thats why ancient greeks and the romans, whoever they were, are totally gone now as a blood people.

western europe is now just all germanics and celts, with a bit of viking, blood-wise. and its funny that gaul under rome, which was france-belgium-northern italy, and southern germany, had lots of celts basically just living according to roman custom and doing the whole rome thing, and they were all spared by the invading germanic tribes. they clearly really hated the romans and the greeks, and just massacred the ever living fuck out of them. and its also funny to me that america was founded by ancestors of germanic peoples (anglo-saxons) and they all worship roman empire, mimic its artifacts and culture as much as they can get away with, all the while they are the children of the barbarians who wiped the romans and ancient greeks off the face of the earth -- not to mention adopted in full faith the religion that displaced and persecuted the olympic gods and their worshipers.

Many many Romans survived. It wasn’t complete destruction. Most of the Roman population (peasants) just paid taxes to the Germanics (who certainly aren’t going to do farming themselves).

By the time the city of Rome itself had sacked, the vast majority of the empire didn’t live there and it was more looting than rather than full on execution.

This is utterly retarded. They can extract DNA from ancient Roman remains ( and have). Their genes are present to varying degrees across the Mediterranean. If we can sequence fucking Neanderthal genes, we can sure as hell do the same with Romans

i read the article, and look man, they just do not know genetically who the ancient romans were. so they cannot tell you who the roman citizens and senators and writers and poets and generals were, only that there were some mediterranean and far eastern and northern european and western european and eastern european peoples living there at the time, ok?

that is not what i was talking about, im talking about the romans that ruled it all and put others on the cross and made them fight in the collosium and took over ancient greece and egypt and gaul and britian...i assume they were of a specific and original race that lived somewhere in southern italy and that the race of people that lived in greece was not the same and is also now gone.

The romans were notoriously shitty at preserving their dead. We barley have any remains to work with as a consequence. Egypt is hardly better though since their preservation techniques made it impossible to recover DNA.

Lemnos:

On 8 October 1912, during the First Balkan War, Lemnos became part of Greece. The Greek navy under Rear Admiral Pavlos Kountouriotis took it over without any casualties from the occupying Turkish Ottoman garrison, who were returned to Anatolia. Peter Charanis, born on the island in 1908 and later a professor of Byzantine history at Rutgers University recounts when the island was occupied and Greek soldiers were sent to the villages and stationed themselves in the public squares. Some of the children ran to see what Greek soldiers looked like. ‘‘What are you looking at?’’ one of them asked. ‘‘At Hellenes,’’ the children replied. ‘‘Are you not Hellenes yourselves?’’ a soldier retorted. ‘‘No, we are Romans." the children replied.[21]

I think one of the problems Rome had during its long decline was that the populations it wanted to reproduce weren't-- e.g., senatorial class and equestrian class romans were just not having kids. Roman army had to increasingly look to non-romans for its men-- more and more germans.

The only reason we know so much about them is because they were prodigious writers. Imagine if they were like ancient Persians who only kept oral traditions. We'd have an the architecture and art but we could only guess what was actually happening.
