Having nothing to do with the plot or story.
I thought the translation was a little awkward but I liked the way that it did not try to explain how life is different in Sweden like a travel book for Americans. I noticed:
1) Average professional adults lives in a 600 sq foot dream apartment that he can barely afford ITE. Lol. His vacation home is 250 square feet. Lol.
2) A fine of 150,000 Kroner, or $20,000 is enough to bankrupt a professional and drive a newspaper into the ground. lol.
3) Apparently a top of the line macbook pro costs $5000, which is half the yearly salary of a young person.
4) lol at monogamy.
5) Lol at nanny state where a fairly normally functioning adult has a guardian.
6) Lol at prison time for libel.

I only saw the movie. #6 was my primary LOL in reaction to the movie.
Despite the flaws you list, Sweden is still a highly credited place to live. Everyone is blond, attractive, happy, educated, and friendly (in an unassuming way, not the pushy, boisterous friendliness of Americans). Their currency is strong and they enjoy a high standard of living without having to work themselves to death.

Oh that was the other thing I forgot to mention.
7) Hey I know we are in the middle of a crisis, but I am going to take 4 weeks off for holiday every summer and winter!
I think the standard of living is fair if you ignore the relative lack of material goods. I bet they dont all have plasma TV's whereas even poors in the US have them.

that's true. But I feel it is impossible in Sweden for a youngish person to have the life I lead - without coming from old money.
Youngs are all poors and need to save up for 6 months to buy a new laptop.
Also the SHOCKING LIFESAVING payment from the billionaire for a years' work = $300,000.

I just looked it up on apple.com and the 27" iMac is only 23% more in Sweden than in the US. the cheapest 13" macbook pro is like $1699 there so i'm not sure wtf youre talking about.
their average salary AFTER tax looks to be about the same as ours PRE-TAX
so i'm not sure it's such a big deal, especially considering the free healthcare, no student loans, and other benefits they get.

stockholm and some surrounding boonies.
what I enjoyed was the normalcy of the thigns I outlined. That's just how things are - people are broke ass, but happy and cant afford anything.
If it were an american book about thing occuring in sweden it would spend half the time obnoxiously framing the differences in a way we could understand like a tourist guide.
