this. anyone who can work on software or tech patent cases is golden. but not everyone has a CS/EE degree. So even people without the tech degrees that were lucky enough to get on those cases are seriously in demand right now.

yes, without a doubt. even if you pissed off partners are your firm and they wanted to can you within a year or two, you could easily move to one of the HUNDREDS of firms interviewing patent lit associates right now. The key is to not get fired within the first six months and have no experience.

Clerkships make associates in mediocre practice groups stand out. Associates in hot practice groups (IP) do not need this to survive. If it was me, I wouldn't waste a year of BIGLAW money.
