Its a pretty stupid article, but whats more entertaining is the fact that the editors at Gawker Inc. decided to link to the story in Deadspin (the sports arm) no doubt with the sole purpose of inflaming the white males who populate that site (they usually don't cross link stories unless there is an obviously shared interest-Hint: there isn't one here). Now there is a war in comment section filled with much lulz. |

theyre running adwords. google pays em for impressions and clicks, whichever would earn the site more.
very few advertiser actually micromanage down to the specific site level, only categories.
and i can assure you jezebel earns a very comfortable amount of revenue. |

so if advertiser x bids on "female hypergamy", it doesnt matter if that keyword appears on jezebel or xo (provided xo wasnt blacklisted), bid will be the same.
there is a way to block certain sites from running your ads on, but i guaranteed you close to 0 advertisers interested in that demographic (which btw is very profitable) block jezebel. |

bigtime publishing powerhouses only do impressions, cuz they have leverage.
the pay per sale model is for small time fish. mommy blogs and shit will do that, because they dont have massive impressions #'s, but they have very targetted traffic. |
