the hiccup is i don't really want to go and suspect i'll be miserable, especially because i'm not nearly as competent as they think i am. there could have been some interview exaggeration. i'm honestly a pretty shitty associate who's being pushed out, but my resume is good. it'd be cap markets work and i'm assuming i wouldn't make bonus.
but it'd probably take a year to be fired, right? and that's a shit ton of money. i just don't know what i'd do after either.

have uk and us law degrees and worked in london as an attorney as a very baby lawyer. now about to be a 4th year. cola there is 100k and they match ny salaries and bonuses.
thing is, haven't done cap markets work since those first few months, and i really am shitty. have been doing low level work at firm. have never had primary drafting responsibility for om, don- anything major really.
i just don't want to feel stressed and like an incompetent asshole for a year. any way i can actually learn this stuff before feb (when they want me to start), not through the firm.
i feel like i can wing the organization/make juniors and paras do it. but i have to fucking understand the law at least. understand the covenants, etc.
