Obviously academia can be retarded, student loan bubble is absurd, fewer people should be going to TTTs, etc. Does not change the clear fact that there is nowhere else on Earth even in remotely the same ballpark as us when it comes to research institutions and DAT SCHOLARSHIP. There are plenty of countries with one or two or maybe even a handful of amazing ones (UK, France, etc.), but the combination of quantity and quality here is untouched. There's a reason the richest, most preftigious international kids from every single country want to get their degrees HERE. Period.
HYPS, Caltech, MIT...it's just really not close. |

You can make the argument that they're more "prole" now because of it, but HYPS and even schools like Duke and UofC offer aid to cover 100% of demonstrated need in GRANTS, not loans. There are middle class valedictorians going to these schools for cheaper than their state flagships and poor valedictorians going to them literally for free.

Europe is a crowded, culturally fragmented clusterfuck geographically. Russia is a fucking yukon wasteland in the middle of bumfuck nowhere. The only way to hurt us is small-scale terrorism and economics.
