She said that if you do a direct consolidation loan then you are eligible for PAYE even if you had a pre-2007 loan that previously prevented you from getting PAYE.
She also said that, even if you didn't do a consolidation loan, all of your post-2007 loans are eligible for PAYE and only your pre-2007 loans would have to be put on IBR.
Is any of this true?! I find it hard to believe that the person the law school has hired to be a full-time expert on student loan repayment could be so shockingly uninformed, and actively engaged in giving presentations spreading this misinformation to future graduates... but on the other hand law has been a pretty incredible series of disappointments so far so this would fit with the pattern.

Mfe in the subject matter here. She is wrong.
What happened to her is that she probably had an IBR-eligible loan from 2008-2011, she refinanced after 2011 and became eligible for paye.
The rules for PAYE allow anyone with federal student loans who have NO loans prior to a date in 2007, and have a first disbursement date after 2011. IBR-eligible people used one weird trick of consolidate their post-2007 IBR-eligible loans to sneak into PAYE because they technically satisfy both prongs of the requirement: they have no loans from 2007, and their first disbursement of the consolidated loan is post-2011.
