Meals in the hall are priced per entree and side, but you can get a hearty serving of meat, potatoes, and vegetables for under $5.00.
The Middle Common Rooms (student centers) also hold social gatherings with wines, cheeses, pastries, cold cuts every other night--and Sunday Brunch! |

"Oxford doesn't give Americans money" is flame. Many Americans at Oxford and Cambridge are fully funded with a stipend, just as they would be in the US. They are Rhodes, Marshall, Gates, Fulbright and Churchill Scholars, and top candidates from the general application pool also are eligible for departmental money.
If you don't have a fellowship and also don't get offered departmental money, your prospects as an American academic with an Oxford DPhil are not bright. Consider it a lifestyle choice rather than a career choice. |
