The documents suggest that at least 137 people, and probably hundreds more, were eaten in Guangxi Province in southern China in the late 1960's. In most cases, many people ate the flesh of one corpse, so the number of cannibals may have numbered in the thousands. The incidents reported from Guangxi were apparently the most extensive episodes of cannibalism in the world in the last century or more. They were also different from any others in that those who took part were not motivated by hunger or psychopathic illness.

The documents seem to offer a meticulous record of how Red Guards and Communist officials in one province not only tortured their victims to death but also ate their flesh.

At some high schools, students killed their principals in the school courtyard and then cooked and ate the bodies to celebrate a triumph over "counterrevolutionaries," the documents report. Government-run cafeterias are said to have displayed bodies dangling on meat hooks and to have served human flesh to employees.

"There are many varieties of cannibalism," declares one report, "and among them are these: killing someone and making a late dinner of it, slicing off the meat and having a big party, dividing up the flesh so each person takes a large chunk home to boil, roasting the liver and eating it for its medicinal properties, and so on."

Even by the standards of the period, the reported horrors extend into previously unknown territory. Mr. Zheng cites an example from the documents of a woman who was forced to identify and denounce the mutilated corpse of her husband, who had been killed, stripped of his flesh and mostly eaten. As punishment for having loved a "counterrevolutionary," she was forced to sleep with his head beside her.

If there are correlations between being Black and low income and between being black and high violence, even if controlling for income negates the statistical correlation between blackness and violence, is says literally nothing about whether blackness is effectively a causative factor in high violence. So even if you are right, it means absolutely nothing at all and you have no point to begin with.

Some White Americans endorsed slavery under which they shipped black people from another continent to work without compensation against their will. Some White Americans hired overseers to whip and torture slaves into compliance and submission. Some even branded their slaves. Some White Americans were so tied to their system of slavery that they decided to enter into an asinine war against their countrymen which is still to this day the war with the most American casualties. After a brief reconstruction period, some White Americans instituted a system of Jim Crow that relegate Black Americans to second class citizens. In order to enforce Jim Crow, some White Americans created a organization called the Klu Klux Klan to intimidate and kill Black Americans. Lynchings were common where some White Americans would literally hang Black Americans from a tree. During the fight for civil rights in the 1960s, some White Americans sprayed non-violent Black Americans with water hoses for simply protesting segregation and voting discrimination. Other White Americans let German Shepards bite and maim other non-violent black protesters. Just last year a white American killed 9 Black Americans as they worshipped in a church.

In response to these injustices, Black Americans have rarely responded with violence against white Americans and the violence that some Black Americans do engage in this country is largely limited to disadvantaged communities that have been clumsily woven together - usually the result of conscious discrimination in public policy like redlining and housing discrimination - and often the violence is limited to communities of poverty.

Which is why it is funny how some White people are so afraid of Black people and how the black person may harm them when historically it should be Black people who should be frightened of what White Americans will do to them.
