I bought a pair of used boots on ebay; two weeks of light use, with 0 wear showing on the heel.
A day into wearing them (on my aluminum food truck floor with 0 degree weather outside) the front sole started coming unglued. Who would have guessed it wasn't stitched?
I called up customer service and told them; the guy said "send in a photo." So I did, and it was super clear that the heel had almost 0 wear on it.
He calls me back: "Sorry, our refund team determined there was too much wear on it."
In a very kind voice, I told him, "Look brother. There is truly damn near 0 wear on it, and that's obvious from just looking at it." He says, "there's nothing I can do."
I said, "Can you get a manager to override this? We both know these boots are damn near brand new." I never claimed to have bought them from a Danner store.
"I really can't do anything," he says.
So I said, "alright. I completely disagree with this but thanks for your time."
40 minutes later I get a call. It's the customer service fellow. "Look, guy," he says, "I talked with my boss and said that you were a really nice fellow and didn't raise your voice or anything, and were thankful to just talk to me. And my boss said, 'I've never heard of that before. Just send him a new pair of boots.'"
Not a week later I got a 280 dollar pair of boots free in the mail.
