I have been accepted to an Ivy League program as a PhD student in the humanities, and could not be more thrilled! I didn't think I would get in, and planned on starting a career in another field where body modifications are accepted. So, I scheduled a tongue split.
And then I got an offer at my dream school, and a career as a professor is in my sights. Now I'm worried and considering cancelling, which does make me sad, but my career is more important. Keep in mind that it is possible to hide this modification from 99% of people, but some might notice.
My question is how will this affect my relationship with my cohort and future job applications (if either finds out)?
Thank you for any advice!
