Agassi also upped the importance of the AO, and I think if you asked Pete, deep down he wishes he had more AO titles as opposed to WTF titles.
but being successful on clay was always important. Mac said in the 80s that pissing away the 84 RG final while up 2 sets to love would always haunt him because it would keep him out of the pantheon of GOAT contenders, though he also noted that losing that match spurred him on to win W and USO that fall |
