hl2 also had next to zero influence on gaming as a whole. it didn't spawn subgenres or clones like truly influential (agnostic of quality) games do. doom was game changing, resident evil 4 basically "made" many third-person shooters into what they are today, call of duty 2 (or 4) was a paradigm shift. half life 2 just came and went.
really it's one of the best examples of manufactured consensus in vidya gayming and why gamejournos are worthless. |
