Alexander "Zander" Blewett III was born during World War II in Wareham, Massachusetts. His father, Alex Blewett, Jr., and mother, Fern Blewett, moved back to Great Falls after the war. Zander attended Great Falls High School, graduated in 1963, and attended Montana State University (MSU), graduating in 1967 with a B.S. in mathematics. He was then in the Army and later went to the University of Montana Law School, where he graduated with a JD in 1971. He is married to Andrea Ann Friedl and they have two sons, Anders and Drew. Since 1971, Zander has been a practicing trial attorney in a statewide Montana practice. He has been a partner or owner in the law firm Hoyt & Blewett PLLC since October 1985 and now practices with his two sons and two other lawyers who have been associated with him throughout their legal careers.
