Toyota Prius - See above, especially the wagon variant

Toyota Land Cruiser - Buy the best, spend once, nobody suspects this bland Toyota is anything special

fair on the 2 points.

but TLC is the only expensive car actually worth its price. they engineer it to last for hundreds of thousands of miles. you can go anywhere in the world with it on any terrain in relative comfort. it sucks gas, but otherwise is quite a frugal choice. you'd have no problem driving one every day for 15+ years.

Early-mid 1990s Mercedes E-class cabrio - no idea where the fuck these came from but they still sell for solid money and you only see old rich ladies driving them.

MB CL/S class can't be stealthy.

VW Phaeton is a good one.

lol at Outbacks. maybe a few dillweeds in the pacific northwest or colorado who need AWD but are too lib to buy a truck or suv might drive them and a few of them might have some $ but lol at that shit being anything other than a millennial fag mobile.

Land Cruiser is credited.

Toyota Landcruiser is a $100k vehicle specifically designed for all-element off-roading. Fully loaded (under the Lexus badge in this country) it's nearly 200k. That's 4x the cost of a Toyota Sequioa. There is nothing stealthy at all about owning one of these.

not sure on the Stinger. on one hand it has a solid "idgaf" vibe with crappy branding, but it's also a flashy performance car.

Any XJ with four headlights (and still runs).

Range Rover 95 or older (that still runs).

Come to think about it, any mid or full size European luxury vehicle ~20 years or older and in nice shape. Like a late 90s E class diesel or an original Audi 5000 Quattro. Volvo 240/940 series are perpetually prestigious. Same with old convertibles. Old SL are dirt cheap. BMWs fetch more because everyone loves the E30. Audis are all dead, but if you find one it says something about the owner. Saab 900 for the understanded quirky.

American stuff is harder because everything post 1972 through the 1990s was absolute junk. Jeep wagoner (that still runs) although I think people have figured out they are prestigious now and they fetch good money. Full sizes Broncos are on the rise and cool now (the old bodies were always expensive but a bit prole). Square body GM SUVs I predict are the next one to gain a big following and are the best of the lot. I honestly can’t think of an American car that would be stealth prestigious that is only moderately old. Maybe an Avanti. The ones with the northstar V8 were not terrible. Then again it is an early 60s studabaker design they made until the mid 2000s.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Suburban#Seventh_generation_(1973%E2%80%931991) - guy I know has one of these in pristine condition with 50k miles at his hunting lodge, can definitely see the appeal, not sure on the 90s square bodies.

know some guys like that who still drive an old ford explorer, but doubt they'll ever get a cult following.

wagoneer is a good pick but people are on to them now bidding prices into the stratosphere.

Square body is 1973-1991

GM400 is what people call the 1992-1999

I should add the 2 door GM400 Tahoe/blazer/Yukon have a following especially for whatever unknown reason the diesels.

The LS is a tough one because they are usually driven by the buy here pay here crowd which hurts the prestige points. Any S or E old merc is cool.

W123 Diesel Merc wagon is the epitome of cool.

If you live in a nice area you'll still see people driving the old LS. The buy here/pay here crowd tends to throw on purple tint and a booming system rattling the trunk.

I'm sure it's beautiful. hardtop coupe style, right?

All the euro brands have lost their way chasing big HP, high tech, and wild styling. I would gladly pay serious money for a simple car engineered and built like one of those old M-Bs. no crazy frills, just get the basics absolutely 100% right and build it to last a lifetime.

(guy who played too much Street Fighter growing up)

I wouldn't be surprised if those early Lexus LS cars were sold at a massive loss. They took M-B and their "engineer the best, add markup after" philosophy by surprise.

Almost every early-mid 90s Japanese bubble economy car was awesome. Even a basic Camry in those days was built to an incredible standard. Even with horrible maintenance getting 200k miles out of one was child's play, and it would still run and drive like a solid car. Only trouble was rust in the northern states but you still see them running around CA like cockroaches.

The 1st gen GS300 was a nice clean design. In Japan you could even get one with the twin turbo JZ engine.

Also love the 1st gen SC cars. Those are pretty much all clapped out today, but very nice design and the 300 also had the Supra I-6.

A lot of SUVs. The upper class doesn't like to be thought of as idle the way that they used to 100 years ago. Driving a Suburban/Jeep/Navigator, in addition to the various foreign models mentioned upthread, instead of a Benz/Volvo wagon or whatever helps keep up that pretense a little. The reason it's "stealth" is because your vehicle overlaps with proles but when they see a non-prole driving it they think of "oh it's that type of yuppie Jeep driver" or whatever.

American "sedans" and shit have like no cache at all for various reasons. Something like a 1999 Olds LSS is pretty fuckin classy as far as I'm concerned but I am probably the only one. But ifyou somehow have something that's like 25+ years old that doesn't look like shit, that can be kind of classy since it would require some classy as FUCK old person to spend 12.5% of their classy as FUCK retirement caring for it inside of the garage of their paid-off house with no reverse mortgage, before dying and giving it to you.

Suburban with a tow hitch is the kind of thing I'm thinking of.

Basically what would you drive if you wanted a nice car but were also running for POTUS and had to glad hand proles all day? Something Mitch Romney would drive.

Big dually diesel pickup if you're towing something prestigious like a trailer full of classic cars, horses, sailing yacht etc. They can cost 80-90k and proles just think you're a good ol' boy rolling coal.
