I'm not gonna lie. I've been chronically depressed since moving to Seattle. It's not even the weather. After living in and enjoying America's greatest city (i.e. NYC), Seattle is such a huge letdown that I feel like I'm in a bizarro alternate universe. When I walk around the city, I'm repulsed. The social scene, restaurant scene, caliber of women, are totally underwhelming. In NYC I truly felt alive. In Seattle I feel moribund and stagnant.

1. Given that I'm a straight man, it's the caliber of women I'm concerned with. But to be fair, the caliber of men here is worse than NYC as well. Does that soothe your bruised snowflake ego?

2. Given what I'm looking for in terms of looks, education, accomplishments, personality, values, the caliber of women is higher in NYC than Seattle. No, it does not mean that they're better human beings or morally superior. I'm not making a normative claim. But I'm pretty sure I'm allowed to have preferences unless you liberal snowflakes want to outlaw that.

3. I will go into more detail on what I mean by this. In NYC my last 3 girlfriends were the following: i) a tall beautiful blonde who went to Princeton, top athlete, and works at a major private equity firm, ii) super cute brunette who went to Harvard Medical and was doing a neurosurgery residency, iii) Swedish blonde knockout who speaks 6 languages and works for a major fashion designer. They're all different from each other but beautiful, smart, successful, interesting, and cosmopolitan. Now, here's the thing. Women like them are not at all rare in NYC. And I certainly am not some model or celebrity. I also am not saying that there are no awesome women in Seattle, as my argument is about the aggregate. But anyone who thinks Seattle and NYC dating are equivalent, has either not lived in both cities or are just trolling.
