notch is just like mike's in the pic
"peak" is where there are angled points pointing toward the shoulders on each side
"shawl" is just like a plain folded-over hem, it's usually shiny

Looks like a pre-tied bowtie
Looks like a 2 button jacket
Shoes look like the are possibly regular leather and not patent
Very likely not a detachable wing collar (and at this point turndown collars are more appropriate anyway)

ljl good call on 2 button jacket. u think he rented this from men's warehouse?
what makes u think it's a pre-tied bowtie? it probably is -- it goes along with everything else he's wearing. but i cant tell.
why are turndown collars more appropriate? i have one but i thought wings are okay too.

You do god's work on this bort, and this post is a shining example. I would be remiss, however, especially given the nature of the discussion, if I didn't correct the "per say."
Prole tell is spelling per se "per say."

There is nothing wrong with having two buttons on a tux, but agreed re: the pockets. Tuxes should have welt pockets. His may be convertible, but he has the flaps hanging out like an idiot.
He's also not wearing patent leather shoes.
Wing collar is lame but at least traditional.
His stud set looks like the free one that comes with a rental tux. Not befitting of the 2nd most powerful man in the US.

No. I own a bespoke tux and spent days researching and working with a tailor. 3 is definitely wrong, but there is nothing wrong with 2.
The satin lapel and pant stripe are the obvious distinction from a normal suit, though of course there are modern designers who try to break the rules. Not the number of buttons.
Interestingly I could not find any precedent for whether to get working cuffs. Though I couldn't imagine a situation where I would leave one unbuttoned, I ultimately decided to go for it because why not.

Also as proof of not flame, I do happen to have a picture of the cuff as it turned out. I undid one of the working buttons for the LOLs.

America and Americans in general do a piss poor job with formalities. Britain is way way better at it.
And its getting worse, too. Look at how even JFK dressed for his inauguration. And Ronald Reagan wore excellent semi-formal morning dress.
If I were ever elected president I'd 100% be in morning dress.
