They knew about the dossier for months during the campaign, but did not report on it for this reason.
Once Comey briefed Trump, it was the briefing— and not the underlying dossier itself— that was the newsworthy event that warranted reporting. So CNN reported on the briefing, and Buzzfeed went ahead and published the entire dossier (which again, most media at the time acknowledged contained false and/or unverified information).
Exactly the type of underhanded shit you would expect from scumbags like Comey, Clapper, Brennan, Obeezy, WLMAS, Rockapotamus, JJC, and LathamTouchedMe. |

He thinks they were hoping to release it afterwards as a way to investigate and then indict Trump the private citizen as a message to the movement and anyone thinking of doing what Trump did in the future.
That's a scary hypothesis imo -- perhaps scarier than what's happening now. |
