Alright.... that was a lame start. Let's try this. At least 14,000+ cubic yards of dirt will be moved for this project.
We will extend our nearby swell (large gently sloping ditch) about 350 feet to help feed the water demands.
Depth will be 9 feet.
Capacity will be 2.9 MILLION gallons of water.
I'll be trenching over a supplemental 2" pipe from our small irrigation well as well as electricity for aeration, lighting and a small fishing cabin.
Haven't decided on stocking yet, in between catfish or bass pond.
Contractor bringing over a tractor+2 scrapers next week. I believe capacity is 36-40 yards total at a single load.
Pretty amazing stuff

Why dont you plant offsetting one end of the field and either build out a dove or duck field.
If you already have the pond area dug out, plant sunflower or milo on the far side from the tree line, across the water, for the start of a dove field.
If you can add a gradient to a side of the pond, grade the near end to the tree line and plant rice in the seasonal flood portion of the gradient. The blind should be facing away from the tree line/with the wind as much as possible. If you accept a conservation easement over this portion of the property, you can get federal dollars for the build out and maintenance.
Regardless of the route you go I would lease this from you for either of the game above.
