A prominent DC conservative, trying to promote an alternate theory that someone else (and not Kavanaugh) may have sexually assaulted Professor Ford, named that person, showed photographs suggesting Ford confused the two and more. This is stunningly irresponsible.

By doing this, Whelan is not only exposing some other quasi-random bystander to harassment and accusations of being a rapist, he's also accepting the legitimacy of making 35-year-old allegations and trying to "weigh the evidence." The position should be simple: Proving or disproving a case like this is impossible and we shouldn't even waste time discussing it.

Feinstein received this letter back in July yet intentionally sat on it. The GOP should have said, you got this letter back in July and sat on it? You could have let us fully vet but chose not to? You actually met with Kavanaugh and we questioned him under oath and you still said nothing? And the accuser can’t remember crucial details that could help us prove her story, such as where and when it happened?

Sorry, we can’t set a horrible precedent, and the vote will proceed as scheduled. Next time try not to wait 36 years, and when you do say something, make sure to promptly report it. The confirmation hearings exist for a reason.
