I love BJJ ( at least right now), but I do think there is a lot of misinformation regarding risk of injury. It's a combat sport and probably not advisable for 90% of people over 45.

One of the black belts I train under compares it to basketball. I think that underestimates the potential for injury. The higher the rank, the more smoothly the rolling goes. But even those guys tweak fingers and thumbs or occasionally get more serious injuries. Bottom line: you have to decide what experience you are looking for, and whether riding a spinning bike or swimming would do it for you.
