Some of the most beautiful movies ever shot are from the early 70s, and plenty of perfectly clean music has survived from the 50s and 70s. It's just easy to find bad examples - but listen to what's on the radio in a given day now, and watch the latest Chinese throwaway superhero movie, and tell me we've made progress in 'texture' and visual appeal for all the technological advances we've had to work with.
