yes, if you think about it in a zen like way it's all about being in balance, on balance. your mindset and well-being are like a string on a guitar that you pluck. the more violently you pluck it (drugs, social media, work, etc) the crazier the sound and the more likely it is to break. escaping from all this allows the string to return to it's resting state. from here, you can begin calmly plucking it with things that are good for you (working out, surrounding yourself with good friends and family, etc). this calm state is what being content is, and it's much easier to begin plucking in this calm, consistent manner from a resting state than the zany staccato halford doobs-in-a-bodybag- style that GC wants us to play.

interesting theory, but i venture that it takes much more to be content than that. to be truly content you need to be sitting on a pile of enemies and watching smoke billowing from your harem, signifying it is soon time to fuck.

If you have low dopamine sensitivity, you’ll have little joy for life. You’ll be low on energy and motivation, and will often rely on caffeine, sugar, or other stimulants to get through the day. Low dopamine levels or sensitivity can also manifest as certain psychiatric disorders including depression, attention deficit disorder (ADD), bipolar disorder, and addictions of all kinds. Here’s a list of the most common dopamine desensitization symptoms:[4]

Lack of motivation

Fatigue

Apathy

Procrastination

Inability to feel pleasure

Low libido

Inability to connect with others

Sleep problems

Mood swings

Hopelessness

Memory loss

Inability to concentrate

Inability to complete tasks

Engaging in self-destructive behaviors, especially addictions

Uh oh

one of the best natural surround sound type experiences i've had was at patricks point in north humboldt county at ~4am. at low tide you can walk out to this forested island and as the tide comes in you get waves crashing around you from all directions. very surreal. big suicide spot apparently.

OP can I share this Ligotti quote with you:

This is the great lesson the depressive learns: Nothing in the world is inherently compelling. Whatever may be really “out there” cannot project itself as an affective experience. It is all a vacuous affair with only a chemical prestige. Nothing is either good or bad, desirable or undesirable, or anything else except that it is made so by laboratories inside us producing the emotions on which we live. And to live on our emotions is to live arbitrarily, inaccurately—imparting meaning to what has none of its own. Yet what other way is there to live? Without the ever-clanking machinery of emotion, everything would come to a standstill. There would be nothing to do, nowhere to go, nothing to be, and no one to know. The alternatives are clear: to live falsely as pawns of affect, or to live factually as depressives, or as individuals who know what is known to the depressive. How advantageous that we are not coerced into choosing one or the other, neither choice being excellent. One look at human existence is proof enough that our species will not be released from the stranglehold of emotionalism that anchors it to hallucinations. That may be no way to live, but to opt for depression would be to opt out of existence as we consciously know it.

Heal like a hip crushed in a motorcycle accident.

You can do everything that uncompromised, average folks can do, for the most part, yet you're always a bit weaker and lesser.

People used to have survival drives that would keep them hanging on into advanced age due to the most fleeting desires and instincts. You can't overestimate the advantage of being able to take sincere pleasure in the little things because you're not a weak, indulgent, novelty addict. People who can be happy without a 'rush' have a massive advantage due to being happier and more present parents. Society rightfully locks up and otherwise marginalizes my fellow shitbags who always need a little something more to get by.
