Dated a california girl in miami who would not drive when it rained.

"Okay, we just fucked. Well.... it's been nice seeing you. I'll call you soon, okay?"

"WTF?! I cant leave your house. It's raining!"

or

"Confirming that we are meeting at 8?"

"Sorry I cant be there by 8. Cant leave home till this rain passes."

It’s dark times like these last four days that I’m glad I bought a 80K AWD crossover.

Is there a noticeable difference between NorCal and SoCal drivers?

IME the drivers are nicer in NorCal. Also they don’t borderline run red lights like they do here.

As for rain driving, I think they’re way more competent.

Yuge. NorCal drivers are less aggressive in general but don't change much as the weather deteriorates because it rains frequently in the winter and spring. SoCal drivers tend to drive faster and pull dick moves more often out of aggression, and also shit their collective pants over a tenth of an inch of rain. LA drivers are the worst of the worst, and also the most likely to do infuriating shit like cut you off and drive on the shoulder for half a mile to skip an exit row line because they are More Important Than You.

Was just out there. Had media reporting how dangerous the storm was and people were buying sandbags. Literally just a 2 day rain storm

Tbf rain affects deserts and mountains much differently than back east where you have much lower water tables

For some reason they lines on the streets are painted in SoCal such that they are much harder to see at night in the rain than in NorCal or anywhere else I've driven.

There was so much steam/mist or whatever coming off the road just now that I could barely see 10 feet in front of me. Felt like some Days of Thunder shit.

i think the drainage on the streets is much worse too. I drove in new york in the winter and the bay area for 4 years and never had a problem.

Yeah it's fucking awful. No one thought to put reflectors in? Wanted to save a few pennies because it only rains one month out of the year? Mother fuckers
