How much car can I afford?

Date: March 22nd, 2019 8:28 PM Author: Topaz meetinghouse Thirty years old; salary is $140K all in at a chill 9-4 lifestyle firm; $100K in 401K and $100K in crypto. My expenses are only $2,000/month. Don’t ask. I save the rest.
Currently driving a 10 year old econobox (think Honda Civic, Mazda 3, etc) that’s all beat up from being driven in a city for a decade. Mechanically it’s great and it’ll probably do its job for another 5-8 years without major issues.
I probably won’t buy anything, but wanted to poll xo because car prices are freaking me out. Anything sporty and German is $60K or more. Anything practical (Credited Reponse Vehicle) is boring and also very expensive.

They're a perfectly acceptable "appliance" type of car that deliver a ton of value if you buy one someone else took the initial hit on.
Yes, the brand itself has no value, hence the depreciation. If he's looking to financially responsible car purchasing, this is exactly the type of car that fits into that category. |
