I think I was a lot happier. I was able to appreciate the little things, cherished the things I saved for and bought, had less shit to take care of, and exercised more.

No it was horrible. I had to hop through turnstiles taking the train to evade fares. Everything I did was based on if I could afford it. Now I make over 2k a day.

Unless you have your own jet you are still poor, bro. It's just degrees of poverty. I deal with the board at my company. These fuckers just cashed in on like $40 million in PSUs and RSU's. They are rich. The rest of us are slaves.

exercise is something you should find a way to do everyday. its critical.

i guess its different for you with an actual physical labor job but for most of us desk jockeys there is no excuse, get to the gym once a day everyday or go for a run

First in my family to go to college. As a third year law student, I was so broke that I regularly tangled with the "This withdrawal will overdraw your account ARE YOU SURE?" ATM screen. Now I spend money without thinking and have 600K just sitting in the market compounding (aka enough to afford 0.3 kids by XO standards)

Mixed feelings, brother.

Grew up in an entrepreneurial family that had businesses go boom and bust a few times. Looked at the family photo album (with pics preceding me by 20+yrs), and we went through periods of wealth and poverty. I was born during a poverty period but experienced the wealth part as a teen. Most notable thing was the absence of my father as he spent most of his hours at the office. I would end up going to the office to just chill with him. Most of my time was spent getting him coffee or cigs. When we were poor, it was the simple things that I enjoyed. Chilling with dad fishing, etc.

I have this weird thing where I mostly act poor and then spend like a lottery winner on stuff. Like I shop at Walmart (great value brand canned food is my favorite), drive a 21 year old pickup truck most of the time, go to a townie bar to drink cheap, and then I own a mansion and have half a million in cars. I am not sure the mansion, cars or other fancy stuff makes me any happier.

Living paycheck to paycheck, no safety net, was not fun. I appreciated the journey though.
