The offense in baseball is really just reacting to the defense, the complete opposite of every other major sport. The side that has to react is always at a disadvantage: in basketball, football, soccer, hockey, etc.
In those sports we don't mind because we inherently like goal/point-scoring. No one likes watching strikes.
