Such a grim experience

A case study in the nihilism of the post-war era

Get the newer 4k version if you have a 4k TV

Keep in mind it's more narrative driven than your average R☆ game but if you're okay with that you will love it

I'm in the process of finishing it again for a retrospective essay---i have a couple of reading accompaniments if you want them after you play it

I tried playing it on PS3 multiple times and just couldn't stay engaged. Should I try again on my PS4 Pro with 4K gaming monitor? I am dubious but if you say yes I will try it.

(Note: my favorite PS4 games are GTA V, Hitman, Arkham City, Red Dead, Last of Us and Far Cry 4.)

If you enjoyed RDR2 there's a good chance you'd like it---extremely character & narrative driven, not quite "walking simulator" territory (can't stand those) but much much more restricted and subdued than R☆s other stuff

The dev team's treatment of the period is brilliant and it captures many of the horrors of early-mid Modernity very well

Also it wasn't developed by rockstar, only published, but the extent to which Rockstar's team worked on it directly will probably never be known after the Team Bondi abuse fiasco

If it didn't work for you solo try playing it with a friend or a SO, it'll give you two a lot to talk about

A Korean game designer moved in across the street. Maybe I will ask if he wants to play.

One of the only modern games I’ve played through to the end. It was so fucking awesome. Well-written, edgy, took risks with the narrative and gameplay. People who dismissed it don’t know what they’re missing.

Team Bondi's next game looked just as interesting (before it was cancelled), check out "Whore of the Orient"

At the risk of sounding 🇺🇸unPaTrIoTiC🇺🇸, it was extremely refreshing to see our nightmarish """"Golden Years"""" get a skewering from our Anglo brethren overseas

Yeah I remember following that project and being disappointed though not surprised it was cancelled. Really a shame, the quality of LA Noires direction is something unmatched in video games.

Played the first case or two and it seemed kinda dull tbh. Stopped playing and never went back.

Also stopped playing GTA IV about halfway.

I play very few modern new games. I got Fire Emblem Hogwarts and I'll get AoE2 Definitive Edition when it comes out but other than that I think I'm good. I just don't game much these days.

For a recent play: I really enjoyed "Enter the Gungeon", maybe you'd like that? It's a shooting based top down roguelike, sort of like binding of issac but not even a quarter as gross as that game was
