It is much better for reading an ebook than an ipad

that said, after having used the kindle since the gen 2 I've moved back to paper for most of my reading, especially if it is anything complex where I might want to flip back from time to time to look at a map or remind myself who a character is, etc - where the kindle really shines are airport paperback fiction - stuff that is pretty brainless so you're going to plow through it quickly and its nice not to have the clutter when you're done

Sweet. I’ve accumulated a lot of stuff that I won’t be able to get in print anyway, like CLEs and law books

Is the 6” screen too small? Are there bigger options or does it work well?

screen size isn't that much of a big deal as you can adjust font size to your preference - you'll just be clicking the page turn button more often if you use a larger font - the kindle doesn't follow the print pagination, so it is pretty seamless

Also what’s the real battery life if you read 30-60min a day?

it will probably last you a week like that, maybe more - it doesn't use a lot of power because there is no backlight (like a book, you can't it read in the dark)

Not even in the same league. My Kindle Voyage is my most used device. I can’t even imagine trying to read long form on some bright glowing iPad screen.

those e-ink shits have poor refresh rates, bad software, slow, etc. I'd rather have an iPad even if it's worse on the eyes

and you can use it as a second computer/phone-like device

It's annoying they don't have USB C charging. But yes the screens are way easier on your eyes.
