certain states will keep increasing for a while, but many places have herd immunity (see NY, Connecticut).
california is sps right BECAUSE they locked down early and didn't go through what new york did. once everyone has passed the peak, it'll slow to a crawl everywhere.

Another critical point -- despite weak messaging, Trump's response to the virus has actually been pretty solid.
Most of those criticizing him the loudest were against shutting down China travel. It was "racist" and unnecessary. Trump's instincts were dead on right.
More ventilators were needed (at least based on early misguided "expert" assessments of the virus). Trump mobilized U.S. industry and cranked out a staggering amount of ventilators, fully delivering on his promise to make us "king of the ventilators." Had the virus actually been harmful, his decisive action on that likely would have saved hundreds of thousands of lives.
None of the horror stories about overstaffed ICU units and doctors having to triage and decide who would live or die came to pass. Capacity was allocated just fine (although not necessarily attributable to Trump).
All of these things show that the goalpoasts are constantly shifting, and no matter what Trump does, or how few or many people die, the media will complain. Trump's biggest mistake was not stringing up fauci and birx on live TV.
