2. In that scenario, I'd start aggressively applying to any media outlet I think would even remotely consider hiring me.

3. Start writing extensively for any media outlet that would have me (e.g. Revolver). It is much easier to get hired if you have a portfolio of work that can be pointed to as setting narratives; much more directly attributable success than "member of a four-person team that happened to write for the best rated cable news show in the country" -- there are a variety of contributing factors there that can be pointed to to minimize his direct contributions, justly or not.

4. Seek out far right members of Congress and apply to work as a speechwriter under the table. There are plenty who, a year or two from now, would be happy to take him on (e.g. Paul Gosar, Louie Gohmert), especially since he can demonstrate that nothing he said was actually racist.

5. Don't let myself go to shit while all this is happening; lift, develop hobbies, read, etc. Building back takes some fucking patience, and being unhappy it is not happening with immediacy does nothing for him.

6. Build connections with other right-wing once-outcasts/fringe guys (Darren Beattie, Bannon, etc.) -- makes it easier to find landing spots.

He has options, he just needs patience and a plan. If he lacks either one of those things, he is correct in his pessimism about his future.
