They're surrounded by kids and parents who don't value education. When half the school has a GPA of less than 0.13, there's going to be a lot of peer pressure to continue skipping school and doing hoodrat stuff.
Honestly I can't think of anything that would work for these kids besides splitting them up completely and sending them across the county to white suburban schools. Even if that were to happen, they're still spending their evenings, weekends, summers, and holidays in the same social environment that caused the problem to begin with. |
