Bonfida still displaying retarded messages like:
"Error loading market
failed to get info about account FR3SPJmgfRSKKQ2ysUZBu7vJLpzTixXnjzb***: TypeError: Failed to fetch"
Openserum seems to have fixed their issues. Last week was fucking awful.
Let's compare the functionality of Binance vs Serum. You can do staking, 100% market buys, leveraged trading, futures, pools, and a million fucking things on Binance.
What does Serum offer?
A couple of coins, weird dumb shit like clicking "settle" before you can actually execute trades, etc.
Basically, YOU CAN'T FUCKING DO ANYTHING ON SERUM. Let's be real, SOL's strategy seems to be "raise capital first, worry about Dapps later".
The problem with this strategy is that if SOL dapps don't fucking catch up to BSC and ETH Dapps, it will limit its growth big time.
And that's the cold nigga truth. If SOL wants to position itself as the future of DeFi it has to be accessible to the average Joe. Right now its too barebones, and not user-friendly at all. How about some cool stuff like microfinance apps or something? SOL might be the only blockchain that can support decentralized microfinance.
The marketing team is now just starting to make moves, which is good - I remember last month there were NO SOL moonboy videos and now there are a thousand of them. OKAY, you're getting the liquidity, but SOL absolutely needs to follow through with its Dapps or ETH/BSC will fucking crush it.

For those of you new to crypto who have no idea what I'm talking about, here is an analogy:
you can have a ferrari engine in a go-kart, which means you are faster than any other car out there.
however, people aren't going to be riding a go-kart with a ferrari engine just for the engine. trackmos might on weekends but most dudes are going to opt for the mercedes AMG GT which might be slower than said ferrari go-kart, but provides an actual nice driving experience without sacrificing too much speed. most people want air conditioning, airbags, etc. in their cars.

user experience of on-chain stuff all sucks right now but will get better over time and is already several magnitudes better than the experience in the last crypto boom
can't really compare serum or other DEXes to Binance or FTX as that's an apples to oranges comparison (at least for now)

thank you for being at least somewhat honest. we want maximal, rapid adoption. trying to navigate a Prometheus Engineer ship is not the right way to go about this.
i dont give a fuck how its more user friendly than shit during the first boom, i want shit to be accessible right NOW.
we need shit like solana public-private partnerships in emerging markets for microfinance, a dedicated FOREX built on s-fiat pairs, etc. shit that ETH could never do. can you imagine a SOL dex FOREX w/ native s-USD, s-KRW pairs? would bring insane amounts of money to SOL with all this dumb kimchi premium shit going around
you better fucking hope SOL devs are keeping this info hidden from us for a reason and arent trying to pump SOL on merely fumes only.

yeah well we all want stuff to be easy to use as apple products rite nao, but that doesn't mean it's going to happen.
what happened in the past vs. now is very relevant bc it tells you how things will progress in the future
but yes, crypto is full of linux nerd types who have no idea how to design UX so u should send ur feedback to those teams
ETH can do stable vs. stable coin settlement, stuff like the kimchi premium exists due to regulatory not technical reasons

there is USDC, OK.
and...how many other ETH-native fiat currencies? which are being traded on how many ETH-FOREXes at the moment?
SOL can 100%, and should 100%, find a way to slurp up KRW and create a S-KRW, despite korea's capital controls. ultimately, if it needs to pay a premium, it's worth it in the long run because of how insane FOREX arbitrage can get in crypto. bkrw got fucked, SOL can learn from their mistake.

there are a bunch of them, but not really that much demand for them
for example, https://www.trusttoken.com/products
re: arbitrage, ultimately the issue is still moving the capital from point A to point B, so you're still facing the same issue (meaning that you would still have the same issue with a stablecoin)

i see 5 eth-fiat pairs there. and no actual eth-FOREX where that shit is being traded
i want SOL to straight up make s-pairs with ALL fiat currencies and put them in a sol-FOREX and decentralize that shit
dont see how hard it would be to cash out the s-fiatcoins as long as there are partnerships with local banks - and if local banks dont want to do it then have solana itself buy the cash in the local markets and let people cash out as necessary. fucking bring down the entire centralized FOREX system as we know it today. thats what i fucking want from SOL. local exchanges like korbit are garbage for FOREX: there are insane exchanges fees, slow as fuck, terrible interfaces, etc. SOL can monopolize this shit on a global scale 100%.

u can do peer-to-peer transx over ETH of any pair using a reference price, so it's not hard to implement, it's just that there's not much demand for it. (why trade FX pairs over ETH when you can use a regular brokerage and have a much better experience?)
re: the real reason to do this (regulatory evasion), the pain point is the banks, which are regulated to hell and beyond in most countries. if SOL bought the cash and allowed people to cash out, then it would be operating as a bank or some other heavily regulated entity without a license == would get pwned hard
you might get FX exchange pairs on SOL for travelers and stuff, remains TBD what the demand for that is
but, going back to the original point, i've heard from more than one person that Solana-based DEXes have terrible UIs and that's a completely valid point that should be low-hanging fruit for them to address

its 100% an issue that needs addressing.

"Solana Secures $60M Fund to Drive Growth in Emerging Markets"
The Solana Foundation is launching four strategic investment funds totaling $60 million to boost the Solana ecosystem in emerging markets.
According to the Wednesday announcement, the four funds will focus on four separate markets: Brazil, Russia, India and Ukraine. The funds will be used to support the development of blockchain applications, including decentralized finance (DeFi), non-fungible token (NFT) marketplaces and cybersecurity, the statement said.
Earlier this month, Solana launched five investment funds with $100 million to drive Solana growth and development in China.

ui is total crap for many of these products. they're still being developed.
keep in mind 7-8 months ago many of these apps didn't exist. serum was conceived and launched less than a year ago, and it's one of the oldest solana apps. you have to look at the rate of change, not the absolute level.
phantom is supposed to be super slick, but i havent used it yet.
