from 1989-2003
each school must be ranked in top 25 at least 6 times
btw,Why are there some years missing? ---*.mandy.* asked me
ans:
for example, uiuc was not ranked in top 25 from 91-94. Therefore, there are some years missing.
==============================
the average median LSAT.....
top1-10 166-171+
top11-25 162-165+
(1994 top25 ranking)
but u can see 2005 this year the average median LSAT is almost the same, although schools are different.
besides, each school like to accept students who get high LSAT
I believe that
top1-10 166-171+
top11-25 162-165+
is better for u to apply top 25

just to break it down a little differently, here are the results as they would appear in groups of "peer" schools:
1. Yale (1)
2. Harvard (2.4), Stanford (2.67)
4. Chicago (4.6), Columbia (4.6)
6. NYU (5.87)
7. Michigan (6.87)
8. UVA (8.4)
9. Duke (9.47), Penn (9.67), Berkeley (9.73)
12. Cornell (12.33), Georgetown (12.67), Northwestern (12.67)
15. Texas (15.79)
16. Vanderbilt (16.29), USC (16.87), UCLA (17.0)
19. Minnesota (19.57)
20. Washington and Lee (20.82)
21. Iowa (21.33), UIUC (21.73), Boston College (21.80)
25. Notre Dame (22.1), George Washington (22.69)
EDIT: Things obviously get hairier as you go down the list. I'm not really sure how instructive this information is regarding the schools outside the top 14, but i didn't want to leave any of them out.

I know it's splitting hairs here, but if you factor the 2004 rankings into the matrix, with UCLA as #16, and USC as #18, you'll find that UCLA edges out USC overall by a few fractions of a point, to assume the "definitive" #17 position. Factoring in Vanderbilt's 2004 ranking (#17) also closes the gap between Vandy and UCLA for the "definitive" #16 position.

"Who cares?"
I mention it because the rankings posted here are a year out of date, and if UCLA could overtake USC on the overall (after factoring the 2004 rankings), perhaps other schools that are closely ranked could have done the same.

UIUC took a hit, yeah. It's still a very good school.
The one problem with it is location. Total pain in the ass come summer when you have to pack up and leave.

what I posted is useful to people who want to apply law school next year.
as we know, top law school must be ranked in top 25 at least 5-6 times. therefore, hope this is useful to whom it may concerned.

"for some, such as Georgetown, they have the ranking for every year, while for other schools they don't"
That's because in the years not listed, the school was not in the Top 25. So basically, assume that it's average is lower than listed.
There was also no ranking in 1988 and 1989, for anyone who was wondering.

When the overall average for a schools' rank is calculated, is this taken into account?
Thanks for the calrification btw, that puts things into better perspective.

Have at it. US News didn't start listing 25/75 data until 1998, though. Before that it listed medians.

the average median LSAT.....
top1-10 166-171+
top11-25 162-165+
1994 top25
but u can see 2005 this year the average median LSAT is almost the same.
besides, each school like to accept students who get high LSAT
I believe that
top1-10 166-171+
top11-25 162-165+
is better for u to apply top 25

I like how the year that Texas was ranked 29 (1998) is left out of the average. If we're going to start picking and choosing what ranks we want to include, you can't use the 1998 ranks for the others schools' averages. Maybe we should leave out the year Harvard was ranked 5 as well?
The way I would do it would be to average the rank in cases of ties and also to give the most generous possible rank in years when a school is not in the "Top Whatever," ie unranked - noted in parentheses below.

What was Vandy ranked in 1987? If they were not in the top 25, wouldn't you have to factor that in as well? If so, I bet that pushes them below UT... just like in the real rankings!

1987 was the Top 20. That's why Vandy has a (21) in parentheses for that year. Rather imprecise, but what other options are there? (<Not a rhetorical question). If we assume Vandy is at 22, that would drop its average below Texas', so the generous assumption is significant. Or since the 1987 rankings are so substantially different from the rest, we could just lose them.
We could just limit it to the schools which have made an appearance in every edition, but I think a lot of people would not be too happy with that.
