Ah, the money.

If you're disappointed with your earning potential as a lawyer in the six figure range, please do go forth and make the next Enron.

Sorry, I know nothing about NY firms since I only have been looking locally. I know some people interview there but don't know much else.

Surprisingly, I have almost never run into Duke students looking for jobs. I guess they go outside the state (I'm looking in state.) Also, we have no Pig here.

The girls are medium. I went to Vandy undergrad and believe them to be sub to those.

Big firms in NC include: Womble, Kilpatrick Stockton, Alston Bird, Kennedy Covington, Hunton WIlliams, Moore Van Allen, Nelson Mullins, to name a few.

Generally for OCIs I think if you weren't in the top third, you weren't getting a lot of action.

I did a little searching on our career site. Looks like a few dozen NY firms come, interviewing b/w the top 25 and 10%, and of course many just take resumes.

What's the market rate for BIGNCLAW? Also, I assume that North Carolina is a pretty cheap place to live. Is that correct?

NC is cheap as a rule though the triangle area is more expensive.

The big firms here pay $115,000 starting, a little more for IP folks.

I know nothing about Cad except that they are in Charlotte and are suppose to be a workhouse, but take that with a grain of salt.

Hours at these firms range from 1800-2000 billables. I think 1900 is a good median. The ones with NY offices like Hunton, Alston Bird, etc go to the 2000 level.

how hard is unc to get into if you are out of state?

particularly if you went to a TTT state school? how much does work experience factor in to admissions?

Hard.

I didn't get in as an out of stater. I had to reapply after moving here. 75% by statute must be in-state. THat being said I think the cycles are gentler than when I went through. I have no idea for sure, but I don't think they give much concern to where you went to undgrad, within reason (i.e. University of South Carolina = Virginia)

What is the best firm in Charlotte?

Whats the Standard of living like in Charlotte?

How are the women there?

HLS -> automatic offers from Charlotte Law?

Sorry, I only applied to Raleigh firms for family reasons, so I know little about Charlotte. I do know it has a huge banking presence, maybe even the largest in the US believe it or not. I think it just passed New York. It's also always ranked in those "best places to start out" surveys.

See above comment on women. I don't really know much, as I was married when I moved here.

If I had to guess on "The" Charlotte firm I would say Moore Van Allen.
