I suppose the only basis is that the offspring of those groups are disproportionately something that is a protected class. Although we are now at a point where the children attending now have parents from the AA era.

PS the one that will really be the most interesting is financial aid discrimination based on race. The percentage of minority students getting aid, need and merit, and what they get is vastly different than white/Asian. Any concept that it is a formula is nonesense.
I have it on very good information from a couple of top schools that the level of preference is huge.
Final thought, and I suppose one could argue that schools like this exist to an extent, why not have a school say, nah, we are not interested in giving out need or merit based aid. Oh, and nod nod wink wink, a seven figure donation gets little Sallie in. We want kids with rich parents because that’s how people get jobs.
