Why is this the case? Is it that the GMAT applicant pool is more intelligent? Is it that the LSAT applicant pool is so much more prestige whorish that Mensa lost respect of the legal profession? Or does Mensa want to weed out loud, obnoxious lawyers who attend meetings?

The de-emphesis on games probably makes it a more g-loaded test because that section is the most teachable. They should like that. They probably had other reasons.

Really, you have to be able to make a case that 163 is radically different from the initial uise of the score to make the jump to 171.

I seriously doubt it, it seems more that they'd rather narrow non Mensa tests for admission without it looking too overt and this is the best way t do it. They already closed out the SAT and GRE--the first was understandable but the second was iffy and this seems like the next logical step.

No, on all my practice tests i missed 0-1 questions on the Logical games section. On the last section of the real test, there were like 6 rules: IF A then B, IF C, then D, etc. The last rule read "P then Q" for some reason I thought it said -IF- P then Q, like all the previous rules had. So i got 5/6 questions in that section wrong because I was applying the wrong rule.

Then I missed ZERO on each logical reasoning section and 1 on the reading comp. I would got a 179 or a 180 but for that 1 fucking mistake =(

maybe they realized there are significant portions of the test that do not correlate with IQ so someone with a top 98% IQ would have to show it by getting all but a few of the LG questions right. Since the other sections do not correlate with IQ they have to assume that you no problems were missed there. If they allowed people to miss a few questions in the RC section and have a lower overall score then they would inadvertently allow some people in who aced RC but missed 10 LG questions.

The standard is higher since there is a lot of other irrelevant factors tested they need to sift out... if you get a 171 you are certainly in the top 2% of IQ, if you get a 163 or better, depending on which questions you missed you may or may not.

Eh, it's probably more G-loaded than most STD tests.

I'm pretty certain it's more G-loaded than the ACT, and they only require a 29 for that. That can't be much better than a 163. 165 tops.

Is it more G-loaded than the penile Q-tip swab test? That one fucking hurt.

This sucks. I enjoyed the eliteness of being able to join mensa at any time but choosing not to.

Now, I'm just a loser.

They switched it back. It went from 163 to 171 on the website, then back a few months later, IIRC.

Now it's like 95th percentile, which is 166 or 167.

Seems fair. The Mensans were probably pretty pissed off that the average BLS law student could join their super elite club.

They shouldn't be. Mensa isn't elite.

I was being sarcastic in my description of Mensa.

you can't detect obvious sarcasm. this means you're too dumb for mensa and quite possibly for life.

Perhaps ultra gunning has allowed stupid faggots to increase their LSAT score (which is easy to do), while GMAT takers have not hit such ridiculous heights of faggotry and take the test without one year or more of obsessive prep and practice exam taking.
