I've got like 500k in CDs with them. Would normally be too risk-averse to go above the 250k FDIC limit, but I figure if GS fails we'll all be eating roadkill anyway.

But put one in your name and one in your wife's. Or create an LLC to avoid that issue.

I had a lot of my $ in Ally Bank and Barclays before, but they offer around 4.5% for similar CD periods.

Ally and Barclays used to have competitive rates, but they did a rug-pull. I already had my accounts with them connected to my GS account, so I figured 5% was good enough given that I just have to click a button to transfer to GS.

u shld confirm the CD isn't calleable, this is a trick these kike banks are doing with longer term CD's, they offer that rate but in the fine print they can call it like 6m in which means u get ur money back but not the interest for the balance of the term

Savings accounts/CDs in US banks are by definition FDIC, by my understanding. It's money market funds that aren't.

No telling how much money I've lost in my life through my risk-aversion. It's a curse I share with like 80% of Germans, though- can't change how you're hard-wired so no use worrying about it.

I've gotten into the stock market before. Usually last like a week before I read some comment from Warren Buffet or whoever saying stocks are way overvalued and panic sell.

That's what I've never been able to get past in investing. For like the past ten years or so there have been some very smart people who had seemingly good reasons why the S&P was overvalued. And given my doomer tendencies I always believed them.

Warren "All You Can Eat Buffet" Buffett actually never says that stocks are overvalued and instead advocates to go 90% S&P and leave it alone
