call it hubris. but you cannot look at a skyscraper without feeling. you cannot look at a long suspension bridge without feeling awe. we don't build these things purely for utility. they are monuments.
now look at our tallest three buildings. the top one is a replacement from a terror attack. the second, central park tower, is a money laundering scheme for international elites. it's a testament to the rot of this country. nyc has homeless citizens littering the streets yet facing a world class park built for public use and enjoyment is a massive tower used to enrich the 0.1% of other countries rather than our own people. and the third is the the fuckings sears tower, over 50 years old. oh, sorry, the "willis" tower... sears, the iconic american company, was ripped apart by private equity years ago. |
