Getting closer to starting my treatment…hopefully it doesn’t take long to come up with a plan. Meeting with my new medical oncologist and radiation oncologist this upcoming week. Googled the medical oncologist and saw they have some publications on BRAF mutations in colorectal cancer, so that is assuring.
As I mentioned last week, my Pet scan results were good. Now I’m waiting on mri results.
In my personal life, I recently told my parents about the diagnosis. I was dreading it because I knew they would be very sad but it has been a huge relief to have their support and not have to hide anything

That sounds relatively encouraging brother.
I cannot imagine having to break this kind of news to my parents. Holy shit. If it's not too hard, would you share some details how it went?
Also, I'm new to your story. Are you married? Kids? A link to a prior thread is fine.

To be honest, I actually had my uncle (mom’s brother ) break the news to my parents in person first , and then i talked to them on the phone afterwards that same day. Then i went to see my parents a couple days later.
When i first talked to my parents it went pretty much as i expected. My mom was just crying and unable to talk while my dad was very rational and calm and just asking practical questions about the diagnosis and next steps. They are obviously grieving about the news but they are OK and trying to be optimistic. It wasn’t as bad as i thought it’d be. It felt way worse when i was hiding it from them and dreading their reaction.
I’m married with one kid.
