But if you just kill her in the heat of the moment, honestly, with the sorry state of the Texas legal system you'll probably get 2nd degree and go down for 20 and you'll be out in 10 with good time. If the facts are really against you the most you could do was 30, no early parole eligibility.

But in Texas all murder 1 convicts are parole eligible after 30 years. It used to be a lot less until the 90s. There were guys getting out after 10 years and in the early 90s the legislature was like ok this is bullshit they should at least serve 30 year minimums for Murder 1.
