It wasn’t until 2 weeks ago that I learned the hard truth: she still wasn’t over the situation. I overheard her going into great detail about their sex life with her friends, saying she stayed with him because of it. I posted about it to Reddit and 80% of the comments said she wasn’t over him and half said she was probably cheating. I knew I couldn’t rest if I wasn’t sure so I checked her phone and saw that she had been journaling about him for our entire relationship.

Although I was hurt (and still kind of am), I figured it meant a lot that she never tried to reach out to him after all this time. This made me think that she was more so stuck on the trauma than she was on him. So I decided to stick with her and get her therapy.

Just this morning, she dropped an absolute bombshell on me. She thinks it would be best for her to meet up with this guy so her brain can finally see who he really is and stop ruminating. She said she wants to do it in public space for safety/respect purposes. She swears that’s the best way for her to move on and remember why she cut him off all those years ago. We’re taking a long-planned trip this weekend to a city he lives near so she thinks it’s divine timing. Obviously, she’s pretty intent on it.

I have no idea what to think about this. On instinct, I told her no but she genuinely believes it’ll help her more than anything else. I told her therapy would help her even more but she swears on her grandmother that seeing him with her own two eyes will reset her brain.

I’m torn and bothered by all this. Does she have a point? Could I just be paranoid?
